VP of Research & Development

Julie Rapoport leads product management at CalStar. She is responsible for working with R&D, business development and manufacturing to develop safe, durable, market-ready products that can be made efficiently and economically, at scale. Prior to CalStar, Julie worked for Exponent, a worldwide engineering and scientific firm, where she investigated numerous failures of building envelopes and cementitious materials. Before that, she was at the National Science Foundation Center for Advanced Cement-Based Materials, where she worked extensively with cement, concrete, fly ash and cementitious systems. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in California and holds the LEED AP certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Dr. Rapoport has a B.A. in physics and English from Williams College, and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Northwestern University in Civil Engineering.
