Director of Research and Development

Kyle Douglas has been a member of CalStar’s R&D team since the company’s start in 2007. Prior to joining CalStar, he attended Stanford University where he received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. Dr. Douglas’s research has focused on the performance of cementitious materials and composites. He has expertise in the areas of cement paste and mortar shrinkage, the response of fiber-reinforced cementitious composites to strain rate and various loading patterns, and the application of fiber-reinforced cementitious composites to seismic retrofit. Dr. Douglas received a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from the University of Texas, and an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Cornell University, where he received an NSF Fellowship for his research. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in California.
